That is not a perk. It is the whole model. We exist to compress the distance between a founder’s first insight and a product people pay for.
What we bring
- Capital
- Real cheques, sized to the round and structured on fair terms. We are the lead, the co-lead, or a meaningful supporting position — never the name at the bottom of a SAFE you forget about.
- Engineering
- Access to Horizon Labs AI engineers, platform engineers, and ML operators. Not outsourcing — augmentation, where the founder stays in the driver’s seat and we ship code alongside them.
- Data and AI infrastructure
- Retrieval systems, evaluation pipelines, observability, and the unglamorous plumbing that separates an impressive demo from a product a customer will actually rely on.
- Go-to-market
- Positioning, early design partners, founding-customer introductions, and the playbooks we have seen work for Australian and New Zealand founders breaking into offshore markets.
- Network
- A dense network of AU/NZ operators, fund managers, and late-stage investors. We make the introductions when they are useful and hold back when they are not.
The first 90 days, roughly
Every build is different, but most studio engagements move through a familiar arc. We keep the shape loose on purpose — founders do not need another consulting Gantt chart.

Align
We get clear on the problem, the target customer, the wedge, and the honest unknowns. We write down what we believe and what we need to prove. We decide what the first version actually has to do.
- 02
Build
The founder and the Horizon Labs bench ship the first usable version. We keep scope narrow on purpose. The aim is a product in a customer’s hands, not a polished deck.
- 03
Learn
Design partners use it. We watch what breaks, what lands, and what the founder has changed their mind about. Metrics start existing. The thesis gets updated or retired.
- 04
Decide
Keep building, pivot the wedge, or wind down with honour. We do not reward escalating commitment for its own sake. Clean calls, early, save founders years.
What we are not
- An accelerator. No cohorts, no demo day, no mandatory programme.
- An incubator. You keep your company, your cap table, and your calendar.
- A body shop. We augment founders, we do not build their product for them.
- A traditional fund. We write cheques, but our value shows up in the work, not the board papers.
