About

We are operators, first.

Platform Venture Partners is the capital arm of a technology practice that has been shipping software for more than a decade. We back founders the way we wish we had been backed.

How we got here

PVP started inside Horizon Labs. Year after year, the engineering team ended up in the same conversation: a founder with a sharp insight, a thin balance sheet, and no investor at the table who could actually help build the thing. We were filling that gap informally — sometimes with sweat equity, sometimes with advice, sometimes just by being the person who would pick up the phone on a Saturday.

At some point it stopped making sense to do it unofficially. Platform Venture Partners is the formal version of what Horizon Labs was already doing: putting capital, engineers, and operator attention behind founders we believed in.

We are Australian. Our cheques are Australian. The companies we back are operating from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland, Wellington, and wherever else good founders happen to be. We think AU and NZ early-stage is structurally underpriced and structurally interesting — and we plan to put real capital behind that view.

Platform Venture Partners and Horizon Labs

PVP is a sister entity to Horizon Labs, an AI and digital engineering consultancy also based in Melbourne. Horizon Labs is the engineering and AI muscle. PVP is the capital.

Portfolio companies can pull the Horizon Labs bench into their build at preferred rates — AI engineers, data specialists, ML operators, product designers. That is a structural advantage no traditional venture fund can offer, and it is the reason we believe we can add something real beyond the wire transfer.

The two entities are separate for governance, but they share a view: good technology is built by people who have built it before, close to the customer, with a small team and a short feedback loop.

What we care about

Founders first
We work for the founders we back. When our interests diverge from theirs, we explain the tension honestly and work the problem together. We do not hide behind term sheets.
Do the work
Our reputation comes from what we actually ship with founders, not from our LinkedIn updates. Engineering hours, design partner introductions, and hiring help beat most thought leadership.
Intellectually honest
We change our minds when the evidence changes. We tell founders what we actually think, not what is easiest to say. We would rather lose a deal than sell a story we do not believe.
Long game
Reputation compounds. We make decisions we can stand behind in ten years, not just this quarter.

The team

Team profiles coming soon. In the meantime, if you want to know who is behind PVP, the quickest route is to reach out — we will happily introduce ourselves.
